Payday, and a little cheeky bonus from work so pretty happy today!

Result is managed to overpay +£400
I also transferred some of the profits from Matched Betting +£100

So (with the OH's contribution) we have managed to hit exactly +£1k overpayment for the month.

I've also transferred my monthly current account float into the offset, which I will drip feed back into my current account as its spent. This may only save a couple of quid over the month, but its worth doing.

On a less positive note I somehow managed to exceed the going out budget in Feb by a pretty significant amount, so this overpayment could have been much better - oh well.

That is a great overpayment- well done (especially managing it with the overspend!)

Been a pretty productive day today in terms of mortgage massacre.

Offset my salary balance - contributes around +£3 for the month in terms of interest savings. Also offset another £100 from my matched betting float (£800 in total)

I've submitted Expenses +£130 - will overpay the mortgage this as soon as approved.

Beer money... +£3 (sacrificing the beers tonight). Figure I drink too much so will overpay £3 for every evening I don't have a cheeky beer or five.

Found +£16 of loose change in my manbag, so overpayed that into the mortgage

This month overpayments now running at £1019 (pending expenses)

    Cheers all and good luck
  • I'm just reading for the first time. I tend to read people's diaries and then, quite rudely, not reply.

Sounds like its all going well. Good luck.
  • What a great diary - you must explain to me what this matched betting malarky is! Seems quite the little money earner... :D

    Thanks Caroline & SSS :)

I'm pretty committed to the cause at the moment. Hope to keep the momentum running through the year, but it won't be easy.

In terms of matched betting there is a forum here on MSE - loads of guidance in the sticky threads. Its rewarding if you are prepared to put the effort in to learn and get stuck in. Happy to help if I can, just PM me,

    Cheers,

Been another positive day on the mortgage front,

Pre-empted some expenses and overpayed +£107

The OH found a $5 bill, which I changed back to sterling and paid off the mortgage +£2.75 (she thinks I'm mad!)

Found some more change around the house - now off the mortgage +£15.50

I've got to get into the bank and close a couple of dormant accounts (around 80p in each doing nothing :) )

Managed to buy some more reduced food, and I'm planning ahead to destroy the food budget this month.

Can I ask a stupid question? :o I have some random foreign currency - do I just take it into my bank and pay it in to my UK account to get a sterling value for it so I can add it to my OP pot too? :o

Katsu, think you could probably do it at your bank but might be worth trying this tool to see whereabouts you get the best buy back rates for foreign currency, taken from the homepage -
