Garmin have lost my sat nav, where do I stand?

I have, no had, a Garmin nuvi 1300 sat nav which my wife bought at christmas 2009. This model had a fault and garmin agreed to repair it but I had to pay the p and p. Garmin did not acknowledge receipt of it and ignored my emails asking if it had arrived at their depot. I traced delivery via the post office and finally garmin said that it had been shipped to my house on the 31 st Aug, one month after they received it. I have seen neither hide nor hair of it, have had no calling cards from any courier company. garmin say it was delivered to my address and ignore my emailed requests for dicumented proof of the delivery. where do i go from here, do I just write off the cost of it or is there a way I can recover the costs from garmin without having to spend a fortune on legal fees?
Any advice would be welcome as I have no idea how to respond to this.

If they won't answer your emails, you'll have to try some other way of getting in touch, won't you?
Remember real letters?
Send them a recorded delivery letter telling them what you expect from them. Give them something like fourteen days to respond.
Have you tried phoning them?
Thought about Consumer Direct?
Just a couple of ideas. :beer:0 -
I know this isn't helpful.....and it may be daft...but...
I found the thread title really ironic :rotfl:0
