Help! Water leaking from Cistern to Pan

Hi,
Water is leaking continously from the cistern (tank) into the toilet pan (bowl). Not massive amount but hubby not very happy about it. What should we do to stop the leak - I'm sure the answer lies in the cistern, but have no clue whatsoever. Your help is most appreciated.
Many thanks for reading.

I have the same problem. I am not technical so dont know the correct terms. In my toilet, when I flush it the rubber thing lifts up and allows the water from the cistern to fill the toilet. When it has stopped flushing the rubber thing does not cover the hole to the toilet, flush(no pun intended). This leads to the water emptying into the toilet very slowly untill the actual cistern fills up again and continues. It sounds like someone has flushed the toilet about every hour. You need to have a look inside the cistern and see if thats it.Debt free. March 2020

Its nothing major to worry about - just the overflow.
All modern cisterns have an internal overflow rather than out through the wall.
You need to adjust the float on the inlet valve so that it shuts off the incoming water before it reaches the level of the overflow pipe.

You seem to have a flapper valve as your flush valve from the description. It should seat properly so that what you describe doesn't happen.
A pic of the inner workings will assist as there are many different types of both inlet and flush valves.
OP - a pic of the inside of yours would help too for the same reason.

Yes that is what I have. I know the problem, one of the side things has snapped of, so when i flush the flapper doesn't sit right. I have to just get a new one which isn't a problem. I dont use tat toilet at the moment and if I do, I just manually cover the hole with the flapper valve. Its about no 3 of my list of jobs to do.....Debt free. March 2020

Hi,
Its a brand new toilet - 2 months old. And the installation guide is in this link - http://www.bathstore.com/files/KERRIDGE/41700020008/INSTALL.pdf
The problem is not with the overflow tube. Where the 'Washer' on the Flush Valve rises and descends - between the Washer and the seat, I think it is not sealing itself completely. So thats why there is a constant trickle of water coming out all the time.
I called Bathstore after I posted this message. The person I spoke to has asked me to bring the Flush Valve into the store. And is going to give me a replacement if something is wrong with it that he can't fix. So fingers crossed.

Did you buy the toilet and get someone to install it for you or did you pay someone to supply and install. If the latter then I would recommend you go back to him/them to get it sorted.
TBH I've had trouble with these things from Bathstore before. Suspect its country of origin is a small principality on the Mediterranean (without naming company names of course). After the first failure I'd normally recommend junking it and replacing with a Fluidmaster.

I have a couple of Fluidmasters and they are generally very reliable. It is possible that on rare occasions there might be a small foreign body(grit etc) that prevents the flap from seating properly. A quick wipe with your finger will usually restore it to full working order.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
