A few months back they had leaflets in the branch offering £35 each when you refer a friend, so if you know anyone with a llyods tsb account you could get £70 between you.

If you meet the T&Cs, they should honour the offer - my son got his £30 from Lloyds TSB shortly after making the required deposit.
  • Current refer a friend offer is for £50 ...

Recommend a friend - and get £50 yourself

Tell a friend/ family member just how good banking with Lloyds TSB is and you could both be £50 better off.
If they open a Classic, Plus, Premier, Added Value, Under 19 or Graduate current account and set up a regular credit of £500 or more per month within 2 months of opening the account, we'll pay £50 within 31 days into their new account once their first credit is received, to say welcome.
We'll then pay £50 into your account to say thank you.

With these offers can you cancel your account after recieving the money? Its just ive been rejected a grad account and a credit card with Lloyds. I guess by sticking with them for a long time the chances of getting a CC with Lloyds might be higher than now.

Once you've fulfilled the conditions and received your incentive, you can then cancel.

I am a bit confused. After I read your post, I logged on to their website and applied for a Classic Plus (as my monthly net pay is over £1000). Today I got my pre-open pack with the bank details 'to be', agreement and transfer form. However, the agreement is for a Classic account, not plus.

As far as I can see, it's just the credit interest which is 4% for Classic Plus and Fk'all for Classic. I am a bit p'd off however at the end of the day, I don't intend to use this account for savings....but apart from that, are there any other diffierence? Could I upgrade once the account is opened?

Do I still get the £50? I remember it did say Class Plus initially but I just checked their website and it looks like any current qualifies for the bonus.

Also, when I called them to clarify a couple of things, the lady (who didn't seem to know much - kept me on hold to find answers) told me I will have to do the transfer to qualify for the £50. Although I won't miss Halifax, I thought it would be nice to have a second account for internet use etc.

To qualify for the £50, do you think they want at least the salary be switched to them or do they want everything including SO, DD be switched over and the old account to be closed?

Sorry people, it's the second time I switch bank and the first time was like a decade ago, plus the uncertain impression the lady gave me......

    Cheers!

I'm sure you're OK. This is from their website:
If you don't already have a current account with us, just apply for one of our current accounts***.
To welcome you to Lloyds TSB we'll pay you £50 within 31 days of receiving your first regular salary credit of £1000 or more within 2 months of opening your account.

*** Offer terms and conditions: Open a Classic, Added value, Plus, Premier, Graduate or Graduate Gold current account and agree to and make regular salary credit of at least £1000 a month through our Account transfer unit.

As far as the T&Cs go, just your salary.

Lloyds just called me and told me they received my agreement and stuff BUT they initially sent the wrong form as I applied for Classic Plus. The account is officially opened but they just need the correct app form to print the cards etc (so I was told).

So shouldn't be a problem now.

    Thank you for your post!
