Hi guys
When I boot my PC I get a message about which OS to use (XP or previous) Is there any way to turn this off?
Cheers

what does your c:\boot.ini look like?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

that would suggest you have to OS's on your system and you get to choose which to boot to. why not uninstall the old one?Certified Resident Wanty Stalker #001

Hello
If you have two operating system on there, then de-install one. If it is some throwback from the past, just edit the c:\boot.ini file to remove one of the entries or at the very least (if that scares you) to reduce the amount of time to select the default.
Here is my boot.ini, with 30 seconds and just 1 operating system.
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

To see boot.ini, in Windows Explorer, click Tools - Folder Options - View tab - in Advanced settings untick 'Hide protected operating system files' - OK.0

............or go Start --> Control Panel --> System, click the 'Advanced' tab then select 'Startup and Recovery Settings' and click on 'Edit' under System Startup.
