I need to sell my Dad's car.

Firstly, if you were buying a car were would you look?

Secondly, would it bother you if there was some damage which needed repairing? In this case the wing mirror is damaged and is stuck on with duct tape.

I have no idea how much it would cost to get a new mirror and then to have it repainted and it's a hassle I can well do without at the moment. I'm under the impression that most people would just see it as a bargaining tool to get more off the car, would you?

I would suggest hunting a used mirror at the breakers yard, try to find one with the same colour as the broken one.

I've only every bought at BCA auctions, ebay and autotrader.

Mirror would not bother me, but would use it to knock you down on price. Unless it's a car thats tricky or exspensive to get parts for. Get down the scrap yard and get one that you can fitted properly, even if its the wrong colour it will look better than duck tape holding it on IMO.

If its electric, a scrappy will want around £30-£40. If its manual, a tenner or so. They're dead easy to change, typically held in with three bolts.

The electric mirror for my Mitsubishi came to £230.00 fitted (independent and trusted garage). It had to be replaced because of colliding with a seagull on the M5. They are quite complicated bits of kit, so I didn't think that was too bad.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.
