No claims bonus invalid?

I had to cancel my car insurance in July 2008 due to unemployment. I'm now in the lucky position of having a new car and I'm searching for car insurance. So far I'm ripping my hair out because insurers do not accept my no claims bonus due to not having a car insurance for two years. Surely, if I had no car and therefore not having made any claims, why don't insurers accept my previous no claims bonus?

Thems the rules I'm afraid. Most insurers only accept NCD that are less than 2 years old.0

Try aviva. No recommendation, but they will accept your NCD, and you can move away after a year with up to date proof of 3 years NCD.0

I think Directline might accept NCB that is 3 years old.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair0 -

No, 2 years old is all they will take.0 -
There are some that will take three years, otherwise the personal touch of a broker might be worth a try0
