I want to be mortgage free eventually.
I Watch all these programmes and I think If I can pay my £25k:eek: Debt off in 4 years I can have my £27 mortgage paid off in similar fashion???

Has anyone thought of this?

  • That's my next goal after getting rid of this debt. Sadly my mortgage is £224K so that'll take me a few years! But it'll be nice to have another goal in mind after this debt is cleared.

My other goal will be to purchase a few new additions for my shoe rack which is being neglected in these DFW days.

  • Yes that's what we are aiming for as well.
We have an HSBC homestart mortgage that automagically converts from IO to repayment after 3 years - fortunately my DFD is the month before conversion.
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!
  • My next target is to get a mortgage! Let alone clear one! :rotfl:

I think quite a few DFW peeps migrate to MFW board when they acheive freedom from debt, I can only say it's great to get your pay in the bank and decide how to spend it for yourself, obviously there are always a few bills that have to be paid but on the whole you feel a great sense of freedom.

I'd like to do the mortgage free thing as well, but first we're going to have a damn nice holiday :) Oh - and I'll buy another car - although I haven't got rid of mine yet.
Debts @ lightbulb moment (13/06/2006) - £59,842.23  All commercial debts now clear!!! :T Debts April - £20,000 to family (incl extra £10k borrowed for house deposit). DFD - Aug 2014
Proud to be dealing with my debts
    Goal of the month - £500 on groceries for family of 5 - Apr 2011 - £620! :( May - £454.85 so far.
  • I want to do this although may be silly when we're debt free we'll actually need a bigger house , cause we want to have our babies then but I will have a deposit of at least £60k in a deposit so it wouldnt be a massive mortgage.

I plan never to have a credit card store card overdraft etc ever again, So I
wouldnt feel so bad about a big mortgage and in all fairness
If I clear this mortgageI know what your thinking stay there enjoy your freedom! But I couldnt bring kids up in our area I wouldnt want them to talk like chavs.... nat no and aw that man! (The glasgow chav language!)
Great first time buy bought for £15 worth in excess of £60k now!
