Car insurance for over 80's

Hi, trying to get a motor insurance quote for my 81 year old relative. He has 9 years no claims bonus, but has 3 penalty points for speeding. Can anyone recommend an insurer? He has been quoted £700 by his current insurer. I have looked at confused.com and insuresupermarket. The best I can get on there is £480 with screentrade. Has anyone had any experience of them?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated by both me and my aged speeding relative :rotfl:

Unfortunately old age drivers have almost as high a premium as young drivers as statistics show they represent a very similar risk.

Once you have used the agregator sites you could then try the hundreds of insurers who do not list on them like Direct Line, Tesco, Churchill. Given his age though it may be worth trying some of the age charity sites like Age Concern, Help the Aged etc

  • Do saga offer insurance? - may be worth investigating
  • When looking for insurance for my 84 year old relative I found that online sites often didn't want to know cos of his age. You could try a high-street broker.

Its dam annoying when your take out insurance online, then a year on the renewal comes by post, you run it online with the same company and it works out about 10 or 15% cheaper online. Seems to happen to me every year.

Sorry can't help much with the OQ but to say Saga subscribe to the search sites so will probably have been tried.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
