Fuchsias not flowering well
Comments

I love fuchsias but have noticed some bushes are not doing very well, loads of greenage at the top but hardly any flowers, they tend to flower at the bottom. I usually get a good display now they look more like a green shrub.Any idea, anybody? Thanks
Did you apply a lot of manure or a fertiliser high in Nitrogen at any time this year? That would inhibit flowering.0 -
Pots or ground? Sounds like the soil has run out of oomph and also its getting close to the time when they shut down for winter.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I have Fuschia's in pots, they are flowering very well at the moment, but, what do I do with them in the winter months?peter_the_piper wrote: »Pots or ground? Sounds like the soil has run out of oomph and also its getting close to the time when they shut down for winter. You live..You learn.:)0 -
I would suggest that you bring them in to a frost free place and allow them to dry down but not dry out. They will probably drop a lot of their leaves but that is normal. When it gets to about March/April, and they start to regrow, start to water with a weak feed and increase to normal strength over a period of time. Prune old/dead stems as necessary. You would be well advised to take a few cuttings to overwinter as insurance.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
