Cancelling New Car Insurance! QuoteA

Hi

Just wanted to see if anyone can offer any help here! I took out insurance after going on Compare the market. The cheapest insurance was with QuoteA. I phoned and took the insurance, being that you had to phone, not continue on line. This was on a Friday night at 8.30pm. I had just bought a new car and was collecting in the morning, so needed insurance.
The quote ended up going up almost £200! But I needed insurance and it was late, they were about to close.
I then discovered the next day much cheaper insurance so took that and canceled with QuoteA.
In short, this was a month ago now, and they have still not refunded me! I have spent 63 minutes on the phone chasing it now!
I have never received a thing to show I even had a policy, no paperwork of any kind, simply a credit card bill for £573.93.
Apparently I now find they will keep £87 of it as this is the costs for their 48 hours cover and cancellation!
Now they tell me they will send me a form amd that I will ahve to fill it in, for them to get the refund from the insurers (Aviva), but I cannot believe Aviva have the money? I pad them, and thats who it shows on my credit card!

If I have to call them, as I have no policy number or anything it takes 0ver 30 mins to get put through (the last call they hung up after I had been on hold 27 mins!)

I am so stressed by this as I don't know what to do!

Any advice?

Thanks

  • Hi,

Seems no one commented on my link. However, for anyone who has been/is in in a similar situation, I now have advice for you!

I went to the Financial Ombudsmen, and low and behold, having been told that I ahd a valid complaint, they wrote to the insurance company and myself with regards the situation. Within 24 hours I had a telephone call from the insurance company offering a full (well, less £3.50) refund! Of course, I need to still see this on my credit card statement! But they ahve assured me that they are refunding it all!

    Amazing!
