    tbs624 I have just checked and he is registered. He owns the house outright so has no mortgagor. About the taxman, as he doesnt earn anything from us, are they even involved?

    Pepzofio yes the grounds would be breach of tenancy due to the clause above which apart from leaving out his name and the council name is exactly as written on the contract. And he said we have 6 weeks from now.

    Sorry but he would never rent it out normally as he doesnt want to pay tax on the extra income..this was an easy solution for him to get an extension built without him finding the cash..he owns the house outright so has no outgoings there, he lives either at his girlfriends or in the caravan here so no outgoings there. Yes it was an easy way for us to re house ourselves when we sold our house and the one we were buying fell through. I cant see how he is being deprived of anything here. If I have missed something could you please tell me.

    If you have to follow the LL's instruction and they chose the contractor and that contactor cocked up, I tell him where to go if he was thinking about suing you for the delays their choices caused.

    As Mynameisdave says, payment in kind is always of interest to HMRC :)

    your landlords relationship with the taxman is nothing to do with you

    people are hinting that you might "dob him in" to the tax man if you dont get the outcome you want......

    Not exactly because the thing is, Reallylost , the tax man may also want to look at your own position too.

    You seem to be "receiving" accommodation rather than pay, in lieu of you handing over rent, being paid for a job and paying tax/ni

    Your LL is receiving work done in lieu of paying you for work done and receiving rent payments, ie personal income which should be declared
