Black Tie Charity Ball
Options
Hi Everyone
I have arranged a Charity Ball in February to raise money for The Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID) in memory of my son who died in Feb 2007.
Anyways things are going really well, ticket sales are great and I have a logo and posters and website done but I am holding a raffle and am not sure when to draw it as doing it on the night will take up alot of time.
Has anyone done an event such as this and do you have any ideas you could share on what has and hasn't worked, what people were receptive to etc
Thanks for reading

If you want to pre-sell raffle tickets, then not drawing it on the night is an option, but make sure you know about the regulations for such raffles. You will then have the cost and time involved in contacting winners to distribute the prizes, which is not so bad if they are all 'voucher' type prizes, but tricky if they are hampers / bottles / larger items which may be won by people from some distance away.
If you only want to sell tickets at the event (using cloakroom tickets) then you will HAVE to draw it on the night, but people will take their prizes with them! Yes, it takes time but IME people are generally quite tolerant of it happening. Just make sure you have someone who speaks clearly calling out the winners, and don't wait for them to finish choosing their prize before you draw the next ticket. Keep it snappy!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
i am holding a fundraiser in october, we too will be doinga raffle but will be doing it on the night, our way making it fair and to stop winners taking so long to choose a prize, they have to pick an envelope with the prize inside or a slip of paper saying what theyve won. will be selling the tickets when the band is playing probably
good luck with yours
