Old PCN still being hassled.

I posted a while back about a ticket i recieved and sadly bothered to appeal against...and obvioulsy lose!.Stupidly i paid them! :( However, TCP then 'made up ' another date of a PCN and started hassling me about this too. I have asked for proof...and have never recieved any. I have followed all advice on here and am ignoring all correspondence from them and AA Hutton their baliff company. This is a bit of advice to everyone on here 'MAKE SURE YOU WITHHOLD YOUR PHONE NUMBER!'. As you can guess, i did not and am now being hounded by AA Hutton!.
With my advice also comes a question....from those this has also happened too, how long until they loose interest?.:exclamati

    Hi Jenny, if you have a BT phone line, you can get "choose to refuse". Basically it blocks numbers you don't want to receive, when they ring they get a recorded message saying "The person you are calling does not wish to accept calls from this number, please hang up" You can barr up to 10 numbers.

    Depends whether you threaten to sue them for harassment.

    Costs, and may not work; they can phone from different lines.
    If it moves; sue it!

    High end Panasonic phones can block incoming calls from specific numbers, callers get a busy tone. Unfortunately you can't block withheld numbers with those phones though. I don't know if there are any phones that block withheld calls, but there is something you can buy called a True Call which may handle nuisance calls more effectively, but it costs quite a bit.

    Is this a new tactic from PPC's perhaps? Try and scam the gullible (sorry don't intend the word to be used in a derogatory manner) even more by making up parking charges! Shocking!
  • Most phone companies will offer you a "withheld number block" or similar. But they charge for it, of course.

    I'm with Virgin Media, and withheld numbers are blocked on my phone. They give you a code no to put in your phone, and there's no charge,don't know about any other service providers though. I also have caller display (£2 per month) so it means that I can see the number so then can decide if I answer or not.
  • Thanks everyone. Unfortunatly they have my mobile number which is rather joyous, so i will look into call barring with my network provider!
    To be fair, the calls are quite funny! They refuse to tell me who they are, fire lots of security questions at me, which i refuse to answer. They then tell me they will keep calling and hang up!.

    Some mobile phones have an incoming call blocking feature, or a feature to only allow certain numbers to get through. May be worth reading through the phone's manual :)

    Study this (link below) then read the relevant stuff out when the idiots ring. Make it clear you will report them for harassment if they do not cease contact as you always have 'expressly denied' any alleged debt to the originating company:

    Don't put up with this, you don't have to!

    And Jenny, when you do so quote to them the following both when they phone you and in writing to them...

    Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act
    “S40 Punishment for unlawful harassment of debtors.
    1. A person commits an offence if, with the object of coercing another person to pay money claimed from the other as a debt due under a contract he-
    harasses the other with demands for payment which, in respect of their frequency, or the manner or occasion of making any such demand, or of any threat or publicity by which any demand is accompanied, are calculated to subject him or members of his family or household to alarm, distress or humiliation;
    falsely represents, in relation to the money claimed, that criminal proceedings lie for failure to pay it;
    falsely represents himself to be authorised in some official capacity to claim or enforce payment; or
    utters a document falsely represented by him to have some official character, or purporting to have some official character which he know it has not.
    2. A person may be guilty of an offence by virtue of sub-section (1) (a) above if he concerts with others in the taking of such actions as is described in that paragraph, notwithstanding that his own course of conduct does not by itself amount to harassment.”

    Protection from Harassment Act 1997
    If it moves; sue it!
