Debit Card Fraud Attempted stopped, will this count on CIFAS?

Basically, somewhere along the line I've been a complete idiot - and my card details have got out. I'm absolutely astounded it's happened to me to be honest, I don't use windows for security purposes, I am usually very alert to online scams etc (Up until recently I worked in IT, and specifically security.... Only recently have I been unemployed due to illness, but I've tried to keep up to date..)
This morning my card was declined at asda. I managed to get £20 out of an ATM and cursed my luck, as I hate taking cash out as it is easier to spend cash than use your card! (I was declined for a tub of Ben and Jerry's and some stationary worth £5!)
Then I tried to see what was going on by looking online - and I got an error code. So this morning at 7am I rang up barclays, then got suspicious when I was put on to the fraud department. The last thing I expected was this...
I was asked some security questions then asked about a specific website - I knew nothing about. I googled it whilst on the phone to the man and realised that I'd never seen this website before. Turns out "Verified By Visa" had actually stopped the purchase. [** As a side note, I paid for my T-Mobile contract bill online yesterday - and I simply bypassed it by clicking the link underneath the iframe that says "Cant see Verified by Visa?"... :wall:]
Now my problem is - I know that credit ratings include CIFAS info. Is this exactly the type of info that could mess me up?
Cheers!

No, CIFAS doesn't relate to Verified by Visa.
You would only be loaded to CIFAS if you lied on your application form or you made a fraudulent payment to your credit card to pay it off.0 -

Oh thank god for that. I had a feeling CIFAS was also a way of marking the victims of a fraud, as in an assumption that they were unable to secure their own information! I thought it seemed a bit unfair.
Thanks for clearing that up, I did look CIFAS up and saw that it shouldn't be make or break credit-wise, it should just require more ID. However, its nice to know I dont need to worry about it all!0 -
Yeah, It does mark victims as well, but is nothing related to Verified by Visa etc.0

Having fraud occur on your account does not imply in any way that you cannot secure your own information. Fraud can occur with anyone, no matter how careful you are.
I believe that one of the things that CIFAS does is put a mark on people who have had fraudulent credit applications done in their name (e.g. if someone tried to open a credit card in my name, I then may have a CIFAS marker). In this case, it's nothing bad at all - it just means that next time I apply for credit, the lender will see the CIFAS marker and do additional checks to ensure that I am who I say I am.
You are safe. I take it that Barclays have cancelled your card and sent you another? As it was an online purchase that was stopped there's no need for them to send you a PIN.0
