Advice Needed please on how to stop charges

in Credit cards
Hi wondered if there was anyone who could offer me a little advice. I have an old creation account, it used to be mk1 card till it chaged over. I only have £150 credit limit on it which i used to use and pay a standing order every month and never had a problem. When mk1 closed a couple of years ago I never really used it apart from the odd time at sainsburys. However my balance is now £251 I have no idea how it got to that I can only presume by charges. I have been paying £25 per month by standing order to try and bring it down but it is just going up as I am being charged £20 per month over limit fee and £6 per month interest. I cannot afford to make higher payments at the moment, possibly will be able to after November when my phone contract runs out. I rang them yesterday and they were very unhelpful they said I just have to pay the overlimit till i go under £150. I asked if I could have an arrangement to pay £25 per month & not be charged overlimit as according to my statement my minimum payment is only £9.57, however, they wont agree to it the only arrangement they will agree to is £48 per month for 6 months which will include interest & ovelimit amounts.
Is there anything at all I can do?

Well the obvious thing would be to read your statements (and other letters) when they arrive, rather than just assuming the SO covers everything. That way you'd know why your balance was now so high, rather than not knowing why as you said in your OP.Is there anything at all I can do?
That aside, I would suggest your best plan would be to borrow the monies required (as a lump sum) to get the account back in order, which will minimise the damage to your credit file.0
