Royal Mail

Has anyone else had simular problems? What can i do about it?

My Neighbour from two floors below just phoned to say our postman has delivered a letter from my bank to his address by mistake. Also he has opened it in error and read it thinking it was his bank statement being deliverd, then went on to apologise.

I am fuming….. Over the last 12 months I have made several complaints to our local sorting office, explaining to them our post is regularly being delivered to the wrong address. Each time they say they will look into it.. It sometimes gets better for a cpl of weeks but soon reverts back to wrongly delivered mail.

This time my uttermost personal banking details have been read by my neighbour. I feel my inner space has been deeply invaded; surely Royal mail must take responsibility?

Anyone know the procedure to make a fuss of this?

Thanks in advance

Kev

  • Its better to complain to customer services at Royal Mail 08457 740 740 or there is a link on the https://www.royalmail.com website under customer service.A note should then be put onto the sorting frame of your round. If you complain enough the mail will be checked daily by the manager before the postman goes out on his walk.Apart from this theres not a lot else you can do
  • I'm not sure what good the manager checking the mail before it leaves the sorting office will do. The problem seems to be that the lazy postman can't be bothered to climb two flights of stairs to deliver to the correct address.

I am assuming that the OP and his neighbour's flats are two separate 'delivery points'. i.e. Flat 1, 15 High Street and Flat 3, 15 High Street rather than just Mr. A 15 High St and Ms B 15 High Street.

Are both the Flats separate numbers? for example 15A and 15B, alot of mail is incorrectly addressed and if it is not a regular Postman he may not be aware there are 2 flats one address.

Your neighbour must have the same bank as you and the same name! Or be a bit short sighted :D

If it is a regular thing then I strongly suggest you go to your Royal Mail delivery office and speak to a manager in person and explain the problem. The more people who do this will make the managers realise that there are problems, which can get 'watered' down through the normal Royal Mail system.
