We currently have laminate flooring in our living room and it has had it's day. It has been down about 6 years and needs replaced. Carpet is not suitable as have a lot of traffic through the room and would never be able to keep a carpet clean with kids.
Thought of tiling but not sure if I really want it that them, do not want laminate again and cannot afford realwood floor so was thinking of vinyl.
I have never seen anyone with vinyl in a living room and when I mentioned it to my neighbour she looked horrified:eek:
The thing that worrys me is moving suite to clean under it , will it damage vinyl ? I do not have vinyl anywhere as kitchen and bathroom tiled and everywhere else laminate or carpet.
Is vinyl suitable for a living room ?

Funnily enough I was also considering this. We currently have laminate (horrible cheap stuff that came with the house). I've seen some vinyl tiles from homebase in a parquet pattern and they look great and seem to be pretty hard wearing from the samples I have stuck on the floor. Will wait to see who else replies as I'm also interested in whether they will be damaged by moving furniture etc.0

There's vinyl and there's vinyl. A thin vinyl will probably look terrible, but a cushioned vinyl with an embossed pattern in it (like a wood grain) could look quite good. Karndean is basically a vinyl, fitted in strips, there are plenty of others out there too. Visit a good flooring company and have a look at what's on offer.0

Have a look at the Rhinofloor website, they have room settings which show vinyl being used in a living room, some of them look really good imo. Might give you some ideas?

thanks for replies
I would not be getting a cheap thin vinyl as I know it will wear quicker. Think we will go at weekend and have a look at some,TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0
