Good quality kitchen appliances?

I'm looking to buy some appliances for my kitchen, but I'm not sure what's best.
I need a gas hob, integrated electric oven (with self-cleaning), integrated washer/dryer, and a fridge/freezer.
1. Gas hobs are all pretty ugly compared to ceramic/induction. I'm keen to get a nice looking one. Is there any real difference in the quality of a gas hob? I like the Siemens ER626PB90E, but it's £500, and I'm not sure that's justifiable.
2. What type of electric oven should I buy? My only stipulation is that it's 600mm width, silver and has self-cleaning. I keep hearing that I should buy German. Is it worth the cost? I was looking at the Siemens HB63AA520B at £600. Any comments?
3. I hear Miele make the best washing machines, but I really can't justify those costs. Who's else is good? I want quality but £1000 for one appliance is pushing it.
4. I need a 600mm width fridge/freezer. I like the idea of built in ice/water facilities, but other than that, I'm not sure what to be looking for. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you went for Siemens stuff you wouldn't go far wrong, certainly on 3 and 4. Don't really know about hobs and ovens as haven't had to replace our existing ones yet
Ice/water disp[enser on a 60cm fridge will take a lot of internal space so personally I wouldn't bother but up to you. We have a 1.85cm tall Siemens in finger print proof stainless steel
If you can avoid integrated on the washer front you will have a better choice. Why not get a matching finish to your freezer? More reliable, cheaper and a better choice if non integrated.
We have a new Siemens WM12S383 arriving tomorrow (in white) and has a full 5 years warranty and only cost £450.
Do you have a garage you can put a separate dryer rather than compromise witha W/D?
Miele are supposed to be the best so if budget stretches then might be worth looking at. Not sure their integrated appliance come with a good warranty though0 -
I would definitely recommend Miele washing machine. Got one 3 years ago and it is so quite. We didnt go for the top of the range as it was close to 1000 pounds. Decided we didnt need all those programs with delayed start. WEnt for the mid range one which only cost about 500 or so. Bought it from John Lewis as they offered 5 year warranty but that was a special offer at that time normally its only 2 years.
Cant help with the rest though.0 -
If you buy all from one retailer would you could negotiate a discount. £500 a fair bit I think for a gas hob. For that price I'd def consider an induction - cleaner than gas and energy efficient. Bosch/siemens dom appliances I assume owned by Bosch Group as dh works for Bosch and we get staff discount on Bosch, Siemens, Smeg and Neff (to name but a few). If you read specs on Bosch and Neff ovens, when I was buying mine they were like peas in a pod. Def worth sending for all the brochures to do comparisons so you're not just buying an expensive 'badge'. Hth.0

How they look is a matter of opinion, but I don't think you can go wrong with a gas hob. They're all very responsive and fast, price doesn't seem to affect this. Even cheap ones I've had worked well and were very reliable. I guess for a bit more money you get better quality materials though.
I'd also recommend gas for the oven, again it's faster and more responsive. I've got a built in gas oven with glass door, which is great as I don't need to sit on the floor to see inside it or put things in. Having a light bulb inside is very helpful too.
As for fridge/freezer, I'd always buy frost free. De-icing is just work you don't need to do.0 -
We have just installed a new kitchen, and we have a 76cm AEG ceramic hob (Black). It worked out around £400, but has plenty of space, touch controls and child lock.
I would also go for a free standing washer/dryer. We have an LG washing machine which only cost £300.
Go around the appliance stores and look at lots of makes, then go online and save lots of money.0 -
Miele.
We bought a washing machine about 3 years ago. Cost around £750 but gets used at least once a day and has never missed a beat. Extremely quiet and came with a free 10 year parts, labour and call out warranty.
As my mother says, "You buy cheap, you buy dear".0 -
If you buy anything other than an induction hob I assume you still use a push along mower and think that mobile phones won't catch on.
Go and see one in action at an independant retailer and be prepared to be amazed.
DeDietrich are the inventors of Induction ( owned by Fagor who are very big in mainland europe where they don't use much gas lol ) but feel free to be swallowed up by the big brand marketting machine as they still pay a license fee to DeDietrich every time they sell a hob.0 -
Neff, Bosch, Siemens are all the same company. Some cheaper Bosch stuff is apparently made in Turkey and China, but look inside Bosch and Siemens fridges for example, they are exactly the same - rep in John Lewis showed me this last week. We have had Bosch ovens and dishwashers and never had any problem with them. We have an excellent Siemens washer which after 4 years developed a fault - it was fixed under the 5 year warranty.
John Lewis washers are made by AEG I believe and come with a long warranty. JL are also doing a Neff oven at £370 - same price as Argos - and doing £50 recycling trade in for your old appliance. So £320 for a Neff single oven. It's not self-cleaning though - they tend to cost a fair bit more. They have a £100 trade in on a Siemens fridge/freezer at the moment too.
Ikea do a cheapish induction hob for £300 - not sure about quality of Ikea appliances though. They do induction pans very cheap too. I wouldn't go back to gas having had a ceramic hob, and coincidentally have just had a Neff induction hob temporarily fitted in a unit in our kitchen today - haven't tried it yet.
Most JL appliances have 2 years warranty not one, so you could get them to price match a cheaper shop.0 -
We are in process of fitting a kitchen and going for Miele everything, its working out very expensive but MIL still has her Miele washer/dryer/oven after 15 years and going strong. I for one wont be going for an induction hob, had one in last place and hated it!!
