claiming child benefit for second child any easy tips

hi there, does anyone know if you can phone the child benefit peps and register baby number 2 that way considering that you already have an account for 1st child rather that filling out a form? the phone lines are always jammed like the t creds sorry two kids no time:rotfl: any tips would be great thanks k

  • Unless things have changed in the last 3.5 years then no, you have to fill in a new form and send it off with the birth certificate, but it's usually pretty quick with subsequent children. Hopefully somebody will correct me if I'm wrong ;)

  • No you have to submit the form you recieve along with the birth certificate. My sister was wondering this also as she's just had her fourth.....its the same method with every child as they have to see an original Birth certificate :cool:
  • previous commentors are correct. The only way to claim child benefit is to fill in a claim form. CBO have to see an original birth certificate to verify the baby's date of birth so they backdate the claim to the correct date, and so, in future, chb is paid up to the correct date.
