hi new here so not even sure that this is right place so sorry if its wrong

Today i got home from work to find 2 6ft tall and 6ft wide marston bailiffs
they ask my name i i told them , i asked them what debt this was as i'd just cleared all my debts (some very nice lady left me some money in her will) they said it was council tax agian i said that it was payed but they was having none of it , i said we could talk about it when they said yes but indoors i said no we talk out here they said ok we will just take your car (i need my car for work) i said they cant (B1) said you just watch me so felt i had no outher opion but to let them in , they can in i tryed to ring the debt copmpery i've been useing and they was sht for a conferance!! i was then marched to a cash ponint by (B1) while (B2) stood out side my door they would not let me shut my door in fact (B1) stood right over me and scaed me a lot sating that the door stays open , so then we went to cash ponte where he stood over me and made me show him my balance, then went back to falt he then made me hand over £1000 this all i have left some of that was rent money , i still owe 875 and they i have 24 hrs to get rest of money even though i told them that this is somthing that has been payed , i know it too late but HELP???

First thing you need to do is speak to the council direct to see if anything is outstanding, then get back to us..;)

PP I'm no expert, but I think you should speak to the police, even if you do still owe money, I don't think any of this was legal. Where did you get the money, please tell me you didn't have it in the house?

no did not have it house i had to pay buy card which is why i was marched to cash ponite and made to show my balance!! the 1000 was the last part of will gift that was goin to also pay for a well need holiday after being in debt for 10years and not having a holiday in that 10years i'm still very very upset in fact i'm not staying at mine tonight just in case they come back tomorow before i can get to talk to debt copmerny i feel like i've been muged and my home is no longer a safe place to be

I still don't think this was legal, I'd phone the police and speak to someone. No one is allowed to march you to a cashpoint to check your balance. Which debt company are you talking about?

marston but i'm almost 90% sure that this debt has already been payed and very sure that this is a cross over and i can get hold of some one tomorow i'll let you know thanks for you help

Try to find out all you can, and then come back for more advice, I still think this was demanding money with menace and NO ONE can do that.

or you can call 0906 802 0273 it's 60p per minute but right now you need to get some professional help in handling the bailiff.

I also suggest you pm Herbie21, but she comes here less often since being attacked by other posters.

I know the calls are expensive but given what has happened you need emergency help and she is cheaper than a lawyer and probably more useful in this case.

Yes i would contact your local police ASAP - it doesnt matter were they were sent from, they had no right to act like this and have proberbly broken numerous laws.
If they turn up again - ring 999.

hi all got to speek to the copmpery helping me with my debt and this had ALL been payed just the bloody council had not called there hounds off going to get my 1000 quid back and going to try and get copmpo i'm still not at home and too scared to go back but one good thing is that i'm now out of debt full stop whoop whoop thanks for all the help guys

Thank goodness you got that sorted - must have been terrifying for you!

Thinking about it - I would still go to the police and report the incident - that has to be gross intimidation - if there is such a thing that is.
