What the OP needs is some serious, independent legal advice, from someone who has all the documents in front of him....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

In case you haven’t already read these here’s links to articles
re suing for mis selling offplan :

re defaults and likely costs :
guardian dot co.uk/money/2010/feb/01/property-developers-off-plan-investors
According to a comment on thisislondon there’s a no win no fee law firm called myaccess2justice.com 0844 910 5420 who have taken on some cases of offplan defaulters.
The developers are unlikely to accept it but it might be worth making them a lower offer as they might decide that something’s better than nothing or better than trying to sell it in a dead market.
Hope this is of help, good luck.0 -

Surely the thing that would most benefit the OP would be a good, hard kick in the knackers? Or is this the happy, huggy forum?

Is this house in the UK?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

The following case was in Scotland recently - depending on where you are and where your house is will determine whether or not this is likely to set a precedent; the buyer had concluded missives (exchanged contracts) on the purchase, and defaulted before settlement, and the developer sued for the full purchase price.

Indeed - not a kick up the jacksy or a group hug , just some proper advice which he will need to pay for and not get free on here as noone knows the circumstances fully. At least there is one sensible reply on this thread

Go see a Solicitor. It's the only advise you can get from here - it depends on your contract.0
