CCTV or IP Cameras

I would like a couple of discreet cameras that cover the front and back of the house. They need to work outside, possibly night vision too and be able to send pictures to a PC or Email or FTp etc.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

  • Please remember privacy laws regarding this. The camera can not be pointing in public areas and not outside your property. Even having a bit of view of the next door pathway is illegal.

Now for your answer. Any normal shop sell these. Argos, Maplin etc etc.

    Just google it.

Cheers Teddy. There's no issue regarding seeing other properties. The problem is that there are so many of these cameras that all do something different. I just want some real first hand advice from somebody "in the know".

I have CCTV. Can't remember the name of the cameras, but we have infra-red available, and the pic quality is fantastic. 80gb hard drive, which is fine.

Think we got 4 cameras as well with it, wasn't more than £100 from an ebay seller!

Its not illegal if you have a police permit for the cameras.
This involves a bobby coming round and viewing what you view and if it is NOT deliberatly pointing in your neighbours property then you will be fine.
I have one of these police permits and also the police are able to log into my system and check whenever they want.

My system came from Maplin 4 cameras with recording DVD and ability to add an extra capacity drive. We over record every 30 days.in color and night vision too. Wonderful bit of kit and the best money spent
