But they do say they might overbook, in which case they put you up at their expense in a nearby hotel - also paying for extra transport costs.

This happened to me.. i got a call at 11pm asking if i was coming when i was at a wedding, and hadnt had a chance to check in.. they put us in another hotel and with a bit of argument, even paid for our cab.

I would def complain - but photocopy all letters, receipts, etc, can you get a copy of your telephone bill, show that you rang the number, and although they can try to deny it - your show that the call was connected.

There is no need to "prove" you called to say you were arriving a day late.

As previously posted, they had no grounds within the agreed ts + cs to act the way they did! The room was yours for the duration it was booked for.
  • Just an update for everyone, i have had an e-mail from the Manager from the Edinburgh Travelodge basically telling me to get stuffed. I only found out thismorning that the customer services department within Trvaelodge do not allow anyone to ringthem, nor do they ring anyone who makes a complaint. I have again replied tot he Manager, taking qoutes fromt their SmartHelp section and T&C's but it loks like I'm gonna have to take it further to get the desired outcome. Seems they aren't willing to admit fault. Gonna ask my boss to try and get an itemised phone bill of my extension at work, as i stupidly made the call from there and not my mobile. have also e-mailed Consumer Services to see if they have anything else I can try. Thanks to everyone for their advice!

As previously posted, your phone call is immaterial. The ts + cs don't allow them to sell off no shows/late arrivals!

Write to their HO explaining what happened and asking for a refund of the money they charged you. If this fails consider using MCOL.
  • Thanks Quentin, I will do. Will start getting everything in order to write a letter tomorrow. Looks like it's definately the last time I'll be using them!
