christ I paid £200 in May thsi year for one of these with DVI. It also takes VGA too. Very good monitor and great for games/movies etc

I cant see any mention of DVI Viewsonic do a budget version of this monito with VGA only, hoping this isnt that one.

Now same price instore. was £149.99 this morning, now £129.99, nearly bought but have changed my mind, I may now get a normal 19" screen with Dvi input for reasons below.

I Dont think this is Dvi, there is no mention on the box and the display one appears to only have one inlet socket.

Screen size is 10" high by 16" wide, so not as high as 17" normal 4:3 screen which is 10.5" high

19" 4:3 screens are 11.75" (300mm) by 16" wide so will display exactly the same size widescreen picture, for dvd etc, with a resolution slightly worse horiz but better vertcally (1280 x 910) than the widescreen 1440 x 900.

But 19" 4:3 will give a much bigger PC page 18 % bigger, with a resolution of 1280 x 1024.

Cant see where the 'DVI' spec claim comes from. There is NO mention of DVI by PC World and the only VA1912w model listed by Viewsonic UK is the VA1912w-2 which does NOT have a DVI specified.

There WAS a November 2005 model VA1912w (ie without the -2) that had a DVI but somehow suspect the PC World will be "...-2" model.

ie If you are after this because it looks cheap for a DVI monitor DO MAKE 100% SURE IT HAS DVI before giving the DRG any of your money!

This monitor gets a very poor review, but that was when it cost double this offer price.

I also think that a 19 or 20inch 4:3 screen is better for a desktop PC, unless you are just watching DVD's all day :rolleyes:

i managed to get this for £80. I think it's a GREAT monitor. It does have DVI input. Ideal at res of 1440 x 900 so make sure your computer supports that. Otherwise the monitor is great!

Can anyone tell me what the DVI thing is? I've just bought a monitor which has it but I don't know what to do with it!

You need a PC graphics card that has a dvi connector most new pcs either have vga plsu dvi or two dvi connectors on them when you have a dvi connector it can directly connector via dvi on tv and thus you get digital input to tv rather than on vga converting digital to analogue and thus loosing some quality although it might not always be noticeable

You can also convert dvi to vga via a dongle but you suffer slight loose in quality

These come often when you buy a pc graphics card. My card a 7900GT has two dvi and comes with 2 dongles for example.

I got the guy in Pcworld to open the box, so we had a look..there is a place for the DVI socket to go but it has not been put into the monitor!!, stil not too bad a price though
