The main things to budget for are;
Council Tax (I'm band c and pay £110 a month)
Gas
Electricity
Water (mine is £36 a month)
TV licence (£12 ish a month)
Contents Insurance
Phone
Internet
Food
Transport (either public or car insurance, tax, fuel, maintanence etc)
Most prices are variable depending on how much you use, and you can get various insurance deals. They are all I can think of for now, but will let you know if I think of anything else!!

Not to mention 'Rent'...

Download the budget planner on the tools section of this website as this will help you to structure it.
Your energy costs are really going to depend on consumption, type of heating and how insulated the house is. My combined gas/electricity bill is £75 per month (gas central heating and gas cooker).
Like energy, food bills vary enormously between households with cooking veggie meals with fresh ingredients likely to be considerably cheaper than buying processed food and ready meals. For example, this frugal recipe site shows that a household of 2 can live on around £50 groceries per month whereas many similar sized households will spend much more than this a week. My food bill for 2 is around £150 per month (veggie household).

Snapping Crocodile's covered most of the basic expenses that everyone/most people have, but don't forget to include other outgoings you may have which aren't necessarily household related, such as:
Contact Lenses
Gym membership
Unlimited cinema pass
Mobiles
Charity donation DD/SOs
Bank loan/credit card repayments (this sounds obvious, but I often forget that my OH has a loan he is paying off when working out household finances!)
And also think about 'luxuries' you might want to get, like Sky TV, or Blockbuster Online membership. Also allow for buying 'bits and pieces' when you first set up home - I thought I had most stuff I would need, as I had a lot of donated furniture and had been buying home/kitchenware for yonks before finally moving out, but I still ended up spending a fortune on stuff I hadn't even thought about, like pegs, iron/ironing board, dustpan & brush, mop & bucket, kitchen roll holder, mug tree, grater, potato peeler, etc etc. (Yes, you can probably do without a lot of it, but my point is there's always something you've forgotten!)0 -
TV license could be 29 for the first six months, as you have to pay it in advance, then it drops to 12.
Deposit, LA fees (for credit checks, etc) and advance rent, then moving your stuff in would cost you a bit. You'd also need to buy furniture (if it's part/unfurnished) then all the normal stuff you'd need. Then bills, then what you also have coming out of your accounts for different things. And rent and council tax.** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.
