my insurance is up for renewal later this month and once it has been renewed i have a job lined up (delivery driver) its part time and i will be using my own car. the company i will be working for have said that they will provide insurance on my car when i am at work, but i still require my own insurance for when i am not at work (understandable), the insurance companies i have rang up have said they wont insure a car for 2 seperate policies, one for work and one for personal. we have been told by some insurers that it is an offence to have 2 sets of insurance on your car, while others have said you can you just need to find a company that will allow you to do it and agree to it.
which of these are correct? is it an offence to have 2 policies or can you have 2 policies as long as the insurance company agree? (also which companies offer this?) would you need my personal insurance to be business or can it be social, domestic and pleasure (and company insurance be business)?

Why not find out what difference adding in the business use makes to your own policy, then get your employer to reimburse you that portion of the premium.
You will then have a policy you know properly covers you for all your driving.0 -

thanks for the quick reply
adding business adds about 600 pound to my quote (my 2nd year of driving - quote on social, domestic and pleasure is about 1600 as with business its about 2200 if not a bit more)
i am currently under 3rd party fire and theft... the cover the company offer are the same coverage for when i start there...0 -
If the car is going to be the "tools of your trade" (ie no car = no work) maybe getting comprehensive cover with guaranteed hire car if off the road maybe worth considering.0
