Sitting here - counting my booty

Had coffee with 8 other Mums from the village last week - (The Mommie Mafia:rotfl: ) To sort out stuff about trip to local panto, but then we got gossiping.
Turns out they have all had a go at the "Gillian McKeith - You are What You Eat" eating plan. Mostly they lasted about a week before the actual cooking and getting organised got far too much.
Note to self - point them towards this site!!!
I happended to mention that I was making jam n jelly over the weekend - masses of windfall apples and a rampant plum tree this year - and they went NUTS!!!! Couldn't believe that someone "our age" would know how to make "gourmet" jams !!!
So we did a deal;)
I made the jams n jellies - in jars they went n collected for me. I prettied them up with some paper ribbon and gingham scrap fabric and labelled them up with address labels on my PC. Delivered them today in some veggie boxes with a loaf of HM bread and half a dozen scones - and in exchange.........
........ they have turned out their cupboards and given me all the "extra to requirments" pulses, seeds, nuts etc.
I know am in proud possession of more aduki beans than you can shake a stick:D IN fact looking at my pile of booty here I won't need to buy any "protein" bits for meals for ever such a long time. Mind you it makes more sense to have cupboards groaning with all this healthy stuff than full of jars of jelly that I'd just "have" to eat sometime!!
My slow cooker is on with my first pot of soup with some barley that I "inherited".
With the money I have saved doing my "swap-shop" I should be able to create a wonderful Christmas for DS n Me - all out of a barrow-load of windfalls and some sugar.
Thanks for your inspiration - and your recipes:T
