Hello,
I'm looking at buying a 2 storey victorian house that is heated by gas fires, I would want to put in a central heating and radiators in their place but don't know where to start, or how much it will cost. I'd really appreciate it if anyone could point me in the right direction,
many thanks, Natalie

The best place to start is by asking around for locally recommended, gas safe registered, reliable engineers. Get them round for a free quote.
When you have 3 or more independent quotes, you'll be in a good position to decide what to do next, especially if you listen to any advice they will undoubtedly give when they visit in order to prepare a quote."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Hi.natalie.needs.help - I'm afraid there are no easy answers. Gas CH & Hot water will require installation of the entire system from scratch and the amount of work needed largely depends on the design and structure of the house.
I suspect that a property that is still reliant on just gas fires for heating, will also be short of features like good insulation and quality double glazing, never mind the very high cielings and solid walls that you can do little about
If the vendor will allow, the only way to price this work would be get good local company's in for quotes0
