Prize holiday that isn't

Hello,

hope some can advise. My partner won a holiday to Germany from a local radio phone in which was advertised as being flights and hotel.
Now the details have been emailed through, it's a coach trip from London (we live in Newcastle) and a tent.

First thing we've ever won, but we're going to have to pass it up as it's next week and the cost of getting to London at short notice/camping equipment is too much.

Plus, we didn't enter to win a camping/coach trip!

We have complained to the radio station and wonder if Trading Standards should be informed as it doesn't seem fair that people are ringing in for a prize which is vastly different from that offered.

Failing that, would anyone like a coach holiday to Munich?

  • We did have a laugh about it in the end.

    Honest.

(did I mention it's the only thing we've ever won?)

What did the radio station say when you complained? Were there Ts and Cs published anywhere that allowed for the substitution of an alternative prize?
  • I bet the exact prize was travel and accommodation but somewhere along the line some idiot missinterperated this. I assume the call was premium rate? If so you may have a stronger case than if it were a standard rate one.

TS may well take notice anyways but proof will help. Maybe its still available to listen to online?

    They're "looking into it".

Haven't seen any T&C, tried to listen to the show again online but they don't have that facility.

No, local rate call. It's a small local station for local people.

As stated they don't have a listen on line facility, probably due to having battery-powered internet.

  • Hi

Which radio station was it? Just wondered if they had any printed T&C's online.

Have a look here if you wanted to take it further, or spk to the radop company and tell them that you are going to write to ASA. http://www.asa.org.uk/
