Thanks teabelly. Yes it seems perfect. My childminder would be able to continue to look after them 2 days per week with one day being spent in nursery which means I'll actually be able to earn some money!

Re the Au Pair - we could have a spare room if we put the two children in the same room. I hadnt even considered it to be honest.

Looks quite helpful and costs look much more reasonable compared to £200 a week per child!

Only really viable if you have the room to accommodate them lol

Frankly, DKLS is right. It might not be politically correct to say it, but as someone who employs lots of people i know I will always avoid people with young kids as much as i can. It's just not worth the hassle. Been burnt far too many times.

This is sad. I used to manage a team of 30+, some of whom
were mums, others had elderly parents, illnesses requiring regular appointments etc. I managed them in such a way that they covered for each other when needed. In the main nobody minded because everyone needed time off at some point in the year. They soon dealt with anyone they thought was taking the pee. Granted it gave me more admin but to a great extent they sorted it between themselves and ran it past me for approval. In exchange I had a bunch of motivated staff who were prepared to come in early, work lunch or stay late if we had a rush job on.
