Remove barclaycard info from Equifax report

Hi,

Can anyone suggest anything for the following?

I checked my Equifax credit report yesterday for the first time in about 4 months and it now shows 2 Barclaycard credit agreements which are not mine. They were not there a few months ago and only show on Equifax. They both show as arrangement to pay/3 months or more arrears for several years then both settled at end of 2008. They also both clearly show as date of birth of my father and deceased (he died about 7 years ago). Although we both have the same first name (only difference is I have a middle initial) does anyone know why they would suddenly appear on my report and more importantly how do i get rid of them? I have emailed Equifax although I dont know how slow they are and tried all this morning with ringing Barclaycard and just got passed from pillar to post. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good contact number?

Thanks...

Another example what this CRA do for society ?.
They make mistake of someone data and that person need to suffer.
Is not that a person should be able to see their file and if they spot error they could advise for correction.

Currently people need to pay £2.00. Not much though but for some people like me paying 1penny make a difference as it means that we are supporting this org.

  • Adindas - the OP asked for information on how to get this rectified, not for a rant against credit reference agencies. It is not hard to confuse two people with the same name on automated systems.

OP, you will need to write a letter to both equifax and Barclaycard informing them of the incorrect data and asking them to correct it.

  • Thanks onlypaddy. I have emailed Equifax but will write to both them and Barclaycard. Cheers!
  • I can see how they could confuse the info with the same name but they have both only appeared in the last couple of months even though both debts are shown as settled in 2008 (and both clearly show as deceased and date of birth in 1942). But just looking at them it looks awful with so many AP and 3's againt every month for several years.

I had a similar experience - my report linked me to a someone with a different DOB and address but same first and last (but not middle) names - funnily enough I knew who they were as they are one of my in-laws! :D

I emailed Equifax and they resolved it within a few weeks. In my case it was council tax/address records not borrowing that showed, thankfully.

    Dear onlypaddy
Thank you for reminder. I will open then a new thread to highlight the problem and to highlight how this CRA make mistake and people (factual info about them) need to pay to ratify them ...

bobbydrake50. Sorry to hijack your thread ...
