How are electric costs reduced?
After using a link in today's e-mail, I entered my details to find the cheapest supplier.
In the last 12 months I've paid £620 to Southern Electric.
Moneysupermarket shows that Scottish Power are the cheapest and will save me £99.31 in a year.
As the unit costs are much higher than my last bill, how can I save money?

Did you use your annual kWh consumption on the comp site? if you used your monthly or annual payments it will not be accurate. Work out your annual consumption from a years billing, or call SE for the figures. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Some tariffs include an annual cashback, and this is factored into the savings.
I do know that one SP tariff, the energy reward one, has a £105 cashback paid in June next year.
Also you must take into account any discounts for paying by DD or for having dual fuel, these can vary wildly between suppliers.0 -

Tariffs are generally very complicated and include much more than just a simple unit cost.
If you click on the tariff you are interested in on the comparison site, it will probably give you full details of the tariff that are taken into account in calculating your anticipated annual cost indicated."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
