Here I Am 1 Year On

Options
Wow! Has it really been that long?

If my memory serves me right I found this [STRIKE]site[/STRIKE] godsend when looking at renewing my car insurance in August 2005.

My first post (see here) was after having my lightbulb moment. I was determined to pay these debts off once and for all and to build up the courage to tell my fiancee the extent of my debt. We split up about 2 weeks later without me having told her.

But in all honesty it has probably helped me pay off more of my debt than I would have if we were still together. Blessing in disguise I believe they call it. :p

The rest as they say is history and most of it's in the diary.

It certainly hasn't been easy. In all honesty it's been the best and worst year of my life but I'm a better and stronger person for it.

I would like to take the oppurtunity to say a massive thank you to Martin.

If you are reading this Martin then I owe you more than I can ever put into words. Certainly more than what my debt was at worst. This amazing place you have created here has turned my life around and even when I'm financially debt free I will always be in debt to you, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. I wish words existed to tell you how grateful I am to you but they don't. All I can offer as a way of thanks (until I'm debt free) is my experience and knowledge I have gathered from here to share with others who are starting out in their journey so the Martin Lewis legacy continues. Without sounding all soppy or homosexual you are a very special human being and I'm very proud to be a member of this amazing site. Thank you.

As for the rest of you I don't want to name names because you all deserve a mention so I would like to say thank you to each and everyone of you DFW's. Without you this place wouldn't be what it is and you all play a massive part in my own journey whether you know it or not. It's an incredible feeling to be able to draw off of the support and amazing kindness everyone offers everyone else. For this I will be eternally grateful and please let it continue.

Also an extra thanks to those of you who read the drivel that is my debt diary and those who laugh at my humour. I honestly couldn't have done this without the hundreds if not thousands of laughs we've had over the last 12 months so please keep laughing and smiling. After all, it is free. ;)

And last but not least it just wouldn't feel right if I didn't mention........................the car mats. You will forever hold a special place in my heart. May we have many more years of me wiping the crap off my shoes on you. :D

Thank you all. Heres to another 12 months!

Hello ss I have read most of your diary although not posted in it. :o I admire your determination to pay your debts off and some of the inspirational ways you have done it. Look forward to seeing a nil balance in 2009, although I bet you do it sooner :A

  • You know I joined at about the same time as you did. Haven't paid off nearly as much because of resetting the clock in february.

Well done SS - especially with being such a help to the newbies over the last year.

(I've only posted about 5% as much as well :P )
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!
