Anyone been to The Delta Sharm Resort, Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt?

Has anyone been to this hotel?

Am looking for somewhere to go away for a week and this place has popped up on a search and it looks quite nice but I was just wondering if anyone has any first hand reports of it?

Best advice is to just google the hotels, you really want to be high up on the trip advisor ratings to give piece of mind

I have just search the propertys in question, the Delta gets a mixed bad although some of them are worrying

Kardamena hotel looks ok, when were you looking at going?

  • We are hoping to go around the 20th / 21st October for 7 nights. Am pretty tied as work in a school but may be able to get a couple of days towards the end of the half term to get away before the school holidays start. Ideally thinking of all inclusive if possible :)

  • We stayed there for Christmas in December. It's not really a hotel (I don't think, but maybe they do have hotel rooms that we didn't see). It's a large complex where there are owner/occupiers/renters.

We rented someone's 2 bedroomed apartment from Holiday Rentals. We were really impressed with the apartment and the complex does have lovely pools (about 5).

It's not walkable to a beach but there is a shuttle bus from Reception a couple of times a day and you have a choice of 2 beaches. The area Delta Sharm has on the beach at Sharm el Sheikh is v. small and cramped and fills up quick - so best to get an early shuttle if you want to go there. The other beach is in Old Sharm and is much bigger but there isn't any snorkelling to be had there, but you do get the jet skis and banana boats etc.

The location isn't great for eating out in Sharm el Sheikh itself (where there are very good local and international restaurants and a lot of nightlife) but cabs are cheap - about £3 each way.

We've been to Sharm before and had stayed in hotels but with two adult children as well as us, it was becoming too expensive to keep doing this at Christmas time. I did quite a bit of research before booking and Trip Advisor is good for reviews. If I remember correctly, the AI option was not recommended - bad food, bad service and mean with drinks. But we were self-catering so didn't experience any of their food. There's a good supermarket on site and that was fine for breakfast stuff and snacks but we mainly ate out in Sharm and Old Sharm.

I wouldn't not go back to Delta Sharm but I don't think I'd pay for their AI.
  • My mum and stepdad live in Sharm and apparently until recently this hotel did not have a good reputation, dubbed 'delta shag' by the locals as it rented rooms by the hour :rotfl:. Although apparently it has changed hands recently and may be better. As another poster has said it isn't very central and in my opinion there are many other nicer hotels around. I've always found tripadvisor to be a good indicator of how nice a hotel is
