Thanks. So, I guess at worst, I'll get spam and possibly the odd phone call or two? Nothing more sinister than that?0

I do not think this is a scam I was just doing a clear out of my email and realised I had received an email from them (I'm on jobsite) I'd forgotten because they specialise in a totally out of my league industry. I am guessing they just have some kind of software that picks out key words- their website looks perfectly legit they have a landline phone and fax and a non PO box address and their company number listed on the website.
There are lots of scams but i do not think this is one."It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice." :T0 -
Hi All,
I just wanted to write and confirm that the mail you have received is not a scam. Evolution is a respected recruitment company that uses technology to try and improve the chance of placing candidates into suitable roles.
Apologies if the email has caused any distress
Kind regards

Just had an argument on the phone with someone from this agency who wanted current reference contact details and information about any other companies I had been speaking to.
I am currently looking for work and have registered on the big job sites and made my CV searchable however to me this was quite clearly someone calling me fishing for names and company contacts rather than trying to find me work. He couldn't of sounded more like he was reading from a script if he was on Coronation Street.
I know agencies have to work for both employer and employee but I would advise people to be aware if dealing with Evolution Jobs.0 -
They won't try and steal your identity but what they will do is steal your contacts. If they are asking for information re previous employers etc then it's to obtain contact details so they can try to sell to these people and ask if they have any vacancies. It's a common tactic of recruitments agencies, they really are scum.0

If you have any doubt about a recruitment agency, individual or company, look on t heir site to see if they are members of the REC (Recruitment and Employment Confederation). They keep a close eye on members, can do audits. If they show the logo, they are probably bona fide, but you can always check with the REC directly.;)0

Ha, make me laugh, you guys just send out emails hoping unemployed 'mugs' will be stupid enough to give you a list of employers they've interviewed with! Whereas most agencies go out there and find these employers themselves, you guys just leech of people on the guise info provided will help you find them work!
Everyone, don't send any info to these guys; if they want info they can call you ... and if they ask for where you've interviewed already, don't tell them details; don't do their job for them! F**ging lazy recruitment agencies - give others a bad name!!!!!0 -
I've had a call from them today wanting to get my references (but they didn't have any jobs for me, they just saw my CV and said they had "a lot of jobs" in my industry/location). I told them if and when they secure a position for me, I'd be happy to give them that information. That went over like a lead balloon, with the explanation of they wanted the information so that clients known I'm serious when they send them my CV. I answered that I do not authorize them to send my CV to any job they've not discussed with me first and I give explicit authorization. He persisted.
I was then asked about where I was interviewing. Again, I refused to give any information. Hard press sales pitch again.
I finally told him that I wasn't going to give him leads for sources for him. He completely ignored that and again asked for my references and where I'd been interviewing or where I'd sent my CV!
Needless to say his fishing expedition didn't go well0 -
Hi all
Just wanted to post some details regarding my recent experience with Evolution - website is evolutionjobs.co.uk (www)
Whilst it is a registered recruitment business, my experience is that it employs some questionable practices.
Today I responded to a job advert on jobserve titled Java/JSR Portal Developer - Software Consulting - Homebased. (I have to confess I was attracted by the homeworking aspect). The job was posted by George Eaton.
I had no contact with George Eaton (by phone or email) but was instead sent a number of automated emails for unsuitable positions. I can only presume that I have simply been placed on its database.
I searched Evolution's website for the position and it did not exist. I can only deduce that this is an attempt to obtain CVs of candidates by posting jobs with appealing benefits or good salaries. Candidates may spend time on an application, tweaking the CV and the like, so I don't consider this to be an entirely harmless practice.
Professional agencies do not need to adopt this practice as their businesses flourish by word of mouth.
If anyone has serious concerns regarding this outfit, in particular with regard to storage of personal data without consent, then you may want to contact Trading Standards and make a complaint under the Data Protection Act (the nearest to Evolution is Warrington and Halton).
My advice would be to simply not use them, whether you are candidate or a recruiter. I certainly will blacklist them on both counts.
I intend to post this experience on as many forums as I can. Businesses simply cannot operate in this way in the day of social media and online tools such as this. My hope is that once Google's robots assimilate these postings any business looking to research Evolution will see this detail high up the search rankings.
Over time we can remove the George Eatons and the Evolutions from the recruting landscape.
