Progesterone cream - should I call trading standards?

I've just purchased some Boivea Progesterone cream to try to alleviate symptoms of menopause.

Pot clearly states 70 grams of cream per container. It also says net weight (weight of product without packaging) 2.14oz (which converted to grams is 60grams ??)

I'm sharing it with someone else, so opened the pot up and very carefully divided the cream using some very accurate scales.

The total amount of cream was 54 grams!

I've phoned them & had frustrating call with a v polite foreign accent. They are sending another pot of cream, but she didn't understand me & just read her script & said maybe some had leaked out (ridiculous).

This is an expensive item. I will weigh the cream in the next pot. Should I alert Trading Standards?

I don't have a lot of energy for a big fight, but this doesn't seem right.

They're sending you a replacement what more do you want?
  • Did you buy this from a shop or on the internet? If the latter, where in the world is the seller located.

    ?

If they're ripping people off, it's wrong.

£15.95 for 60 grams is 26p per gram, so £1.56p worth of cream is missing from the pot (I hope! maths is not my strong point hehe). If this is the same with every pot then yes, something needs doing, however, occasionally there are 'miss fills' on production lines so I would see what your replacement is like before going any further.

If you grow a pair of bollox, consult trading standards.

Thanks for this helpful reply (unlike others!)

    I'll follow your advice.

Have you a calibration certificate for the scales you used?

That is actually a good point, so you know if your scales are calibrated correctly? They could be slightly off.
