If you like something it is good. What is crap to you might sound amazing to me. Not liking something doesn't mean it is crap.
What utter cobblers. Just because something is popular and liked doesn't make it any good. If that's the case then Mcdonalds would be known for its fine cuisine, the Sun would be acknowledged as a paragon of journalism and the Spice Girls really need to reform and make a new album to fill the void in good popular music

Hi All,
I agree on this one too, although I like her songs (well the two singles anyway), I am amazed at the swearing in the 2nd line of Smile and the fact its not even properley bleeped out when played on radio!
That said, when she performed it on TOTP she did say 'doing' rather than the expletive used in the proper version. Video on YouTube does show it completely without any censoring.
LDN is a good song too I think, Tesco/Al Fresco - Quality lyrics!
Cheers

Did they not have one of those 'adult content' signs on the CD case?
Or is it parent advisory or something like that?:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -
MacDonalds and The Sun both fulfill a role and are very good at what they do. I went to McD's on Saturday as I needed something in a hurry and didn't want to spend a fortune. Cuisine it aint but everyone knows that before they go in. Same with the sun, it's a lighthearted read for people with no time (or inclination) to read the broadsheets. As for the Spice Girls just listen to it, it is pop music with no pretentions to be anything else and of it's genre is brilliant music.cheapskate58 wrote:What utter cobblers. What I am trying to say is that if a person likes it it is fulfilling a role for that person and is good for them. In the 70's there were bands like Yes, Focus and ELP who were technically brilliant but my god it was dreary.
It is a topic that could be discussed for ever but saying one music is better than another is like saying Mercedes are better than BMW or Alsatians are better than Labradors. It's all down to the individual.

Seeing as this thread is already wayyyyyyyy off topic...
GnR have been praised as one of the most influential rock banks ever... although I agree 100% that Axle is a complete tool...
RHCP are good with some stunning tracks and again praised as bringing together a rock, jazz and funk fusion never heard before... so far from unoriginal... SA is a bit too long though with a few tracks that sound pretty much like each other.
Lily Allen is poop (IMHO of course!) too many poor rip off's of 70's ragga riffs and some awful lyrics:
Little old ladies have purses not wallets! :mad:There was a little old lady, who was walkin down the road
......
Cause he's got all her jewellery and walletEGG are a bunch of complete bankers!0 -

There is good and bad music as you said earlier but for goodness sake hers has nothing to do with music or any form of art whatsoever. You can call it swearing, shouting, bad taste, profanity, stupidity or insult but definitely not music especially if you listen to the likes of Andrea Bocelli and can appreiciate the spirit-lifting properties of the beautiful art of music.:T
Erm you must have listened to a different version of the album to me. Which track does she shout on? My version contains her singing in quite a melodious voice.0 -
If people bothered to listen to her songs they would realise she's got talent, all her songs are a reflection on real life, so what if she has used old melodies and samples, i think it's good, she's using tunes but putting hr own lyrics to them not just doing cover vrsions.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0
