I was on my laptop the other night as per normal and the thing just turned itself off even tho the charger was plugged in.
I tryed turning it on again to no avail... I then tryed another charger and this didnt work, I then tryed taking the battery out and the ac lead in and the same it does not turn on.
The i saw if I connect the ac charger into the mains the green light on the charger comes on as normal, but when I connect the end into my laptop the ac charger light goes off... anyone have a idea on this???
Im pretty good at taking things apart so if needed Im willing to do this ... just wondering if there was any ideas what could be wrong...
Thanks all:j

I would download the driver from the dell website or use a free app called DriverMax to install it.My advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.0

VERY strange you posting this as I had the exact same problem a year ago. I thought at the time it was a power surge and had done the motherboard in. Phoned Dell and they thought the same. As I did not want to pay silly money for a Laptop that only costs me £300 i left it. Bout a week later, on a whim I thought I would try it again. It worked!!!
No idea why it started to work again. I think it just neeeded a rest!!0 -
Its a motherboard fault. Had the same with a Dell Latitude D610 this week. If you leave the power supply unplugged from the laptop and turned off at the wall for 30 seconds or so and then turn on the wall switch, the psu led will light until you plug it into the laptop again.
Cost wise, its uneconomical to faultfind.0 -
I have taken the laptop to pieces tonight and when there fan is and the heatsink it was full of fluff ... which is common in these Vostro laptops ....
I have cleaned it all out ,,, is it worth gettin a new heatsink and fan and seeing if that makes it turn on ........ or is that hopeful thinking???0
