co-op STORES

Options
I went to my local co-op on Sunday evening for a couple of bits & asked for £10.00 cashback as I paid by debit card. Thought no more of it until I tried to spend my £10.00 on Tuesday - which I didn't have. Of course these days you have to sign the receipt saying you've had the money - before actually receiving said money!! Anyway I wasn't paying attention as my son had disappeared. Very angry with my self for not checking I had the cash. I rang the store as soon as I discovered this and was told to ring back later. When I rang back later I was put through to the store manager who told me the till was not up on Sunday - very rudely. I rang the customer care line and gave them all the details. I have just been rang back by the care line and given the same explanation. In a very patronising tone.

Anyway I am consdering going to the police because someone out there has had my tenner and it wasn't me.

Unfortunatly i dont think the police will do anything about it. They will just say 'you shouldve checked' this happens all the time. You should keep on at Co-op store, maybe after a while they will assume you are telling the turth. Are you sure you haven't dropped it anywhere?

Are you sure that you havent lost the tenner? if you say you were distracted may it not have got screwed up with the receipt and then possibly chucked out?

You could ask them to check the CCTV to see if it shows what happens but typically CCTV isnt worth the electricity used to power it.

Personally if they wont check the CCTV or they do and it doesnt show anything clear enough I would just put it down to experience and make sure I check more carefully next time.

So have you still got the reciept showing that you got cashback and did you sign the receipt to say that it had been received? I guess that you could ask the shop again although they will probably say that you should have checked at the time or realised before then.

Yes still have receipt - keep them all & bang in a spreadsheet - defo didn't drop - assuming she gave it to me it would have been wrapped up in the receipt. Hard lesson learned but it's a mistake I won't make again.

    Thanks for your replies.
