Washing machine dilema (still under warranty)

First of all, I apologise if this is in the wrong section and if so could a moderator please move it to one more appropriate ?

I bought a Zannusi washing machine at the end of February and had it delivered and fitted a few days after from Dixons online, all has been well up until now when a wash was just about to finish its cycle and it just stopped, it didn't advance to finish its cycle. Now when we try and start a cycle the drum doesn't spin and the motor just sounds.

The drum seems like it's stuck, but if you manually move it with your hand and a bit of brute force it will move, but not freely like it used to do.

Now with the background out of the way, the dilema.

The missis rang the warranty company and have essentially said they can send an engineer out but with a caveat, if the cause is down to a foreign object there will be a cost of £58+vat or if it's mechanical then it will be covered by the warranty, the problem is I seem to be at their mercy as surely I can't look inside to see if it is a foriegn as it would void the warranty.

So what is the deal here ? The small generic warranty slip that came with the machine mentions nothing other than exceptions which say if there is plastic or glass involved or neglect, I'm guessing neglect is a catch all for foreign objects.

So anyone have any advice ? Should I bite the bullet and hope that it's mechanical or maybe coax them to tell me how I can tell myself if there's a foreign object in there without voiding the warranty or is there some other cosumer right ammunition that might be to my benefit ?

Thanks for reading and I hope for some good news :)

Regards,

Nik.

If you want it checked under warranty you have to take that risk. It's the same with any warranty if they discover when investigating it's something not covered by the warranty you have to pay. Your just being warned of this.

Have you been washing any bras? If so, check to see if the wire has come out of any of them. That is one of the most common things that causes problems with washing machines. You can then try and rotate the drum and try to see if the wire pokes through a hole, get a pair of pliers and pull it out.

That is a pretty standard cause TBH, you'll find it on most washing machine warrantys.

As mentione dbaove, a bra wire is the most comming thing to get stuck, but it could easily be anything you may have had in your pocket.

If you can manage to turn the drum slowly you might be lucky enough to find something in there. Although I've had them out before and they haven't charged me for a bra wire.

I guess it's worth seeing if you can find anything yourself - this might help:
