Transferring housing benefit and jobseekers to another town

Hello people

Does someone know the answer to my question? Here is some background info:

I have currently been recieving jobseekers benefits for over 2 months in London and in the middle of my local council processing my claim for housing benefit for the room that I live in.
I have been unsuccessful at finding work in london though I am recieving a high level of feedback and interviews for jobs in Brighton. Because of this, I am considering moving there now but how do i transfer my jobseekers to Brighton and in regards to the housing benefits, which I am still awaiting a decision on, if i am successful, can i find a room in brighton and transfer my housing benefit onto there?

You need to speak to your local JC about moving to Brighton. And no, you can not take a HB claim with you. If you move, you need to make another application to the LHA there.

I would contact Brighton to find out what the LHA rate is for the property you are looking for and they may also advise you on how to best claim with them.

If you know it is Brighton and Hove that you wish to move to, contact them now for a claim form and don't wait until you move down there as you may miss out on benefit.

My LA does offer Teleclaims and B&H may well do now ( a long time since I worked there) but worth an ask.

Also, make sure that you notify your current LA of your move so they don't overpay you.
