Cancelling car claim , any help please

My car was hit in a car park a couple of weeks ago, they shunted my car the length of about two spaces and mashed in the bumper CCTV was not swiched on in car park, so no idea who did it Reported to AA ( have never had claim and been with them for at least 7 years) Explained it is a very old car and not worth much, was assured I would only lose 3 years no claims and that should go ahead. Car may very well get written off but will only get about 450 quid. Now renewal has gone up loads and I have lost 6 years no claims and policy going to be about 150 a year more. The AA have said I should ask the underwriters ( Provident) to cancel. I am so annoyed I asked if worth claiming in first instance and now I may lose money because a selfish person just drove off. I did not have no claims protection as I thought if I had an accident it would at least be mine or someone elses fault. Any tips or ideas welcome I am going to replace the car as I have no idea how hard it was hit and don't like the thought of driving it now. Any help appreciated and sorry if a bit rambling as bit upset

you will still need to declare the accident even if you cancel, but you would be best doing and keep your claims history0

generally you only lose 2 years NCB for a claim which might change the way the numbers come out0
