I think people from the regions should be allowed to volunteer by bringing something to the opening ceremony unique to their area.

In the case of Manchester, we would open by a mesmeric demonstration of ramraiding in the main stadium, followed by a wave of truly world class chugging.

    :)

But seriously, the Olympics is our chance to show the world that UK is a nice place to come visit and spend your money, not because of some opening ceremony designed by a 'luvvie', but because of genuinely nice people accepting of other cultures.
  • People from outside London can volunteer without travelling. My first 2 location choices are London (I'll be living there for uni then) and my 3rd choice is Newcastle (home) as they're using St James Park for football.

Same goes for other areas, other cities are being used for football and I think Weymouth for sailing and a few others.
  • I wouldn't volunteer for anything to do for this scabby country

I've done my bit already by being forced to pay for the damn thing via my Council Tax. When is it exactly as I will volunteer myself to a beach somewhere far away.
