Thomas cook Baggage allowance

Can anyone help me, I booked a Thomas cook flight and was told at the time I got 15kg free hold luggage allowance but if i wanted to upgrade to 20kg it would be £20 each, however the tickets arrived today and it says hold allowance 0kg. I have found the following on their website:
Each passenger is allowed the following:
  • A minimum luggage allowance of 15kgs excluding infants (Hold baggage must not exceed the allowance stated on your ticket or a charge will be incurred.)
  • An additional 5kgs can be added by contacting us(Additional luggage only bookable more than 7 days before departure)
Has anyone else had this? I am going to speak to my travel agent in the morning to try and clarify but just want to see if anyone has gone to the airport and got 15kg for free when their ticket says zero.

Seems a bit excesive to have to pay £20 if you do get the first 15kg free

When you book Tcook flight only you have to pay £20 for 20 kilos standard

They dont give you 15 free only if you book a package you auto get 15

You will need to pay for the baggage before you go to the airport it will be alot more at check in

  • Thanks, do you know how much you pay at the airport, because there is 4 of us they want £80 for 4 lots of 20kg, they don't let you choose only 2 lots of 20kg. We probably will take 2 cases between 15-20kg so wonder if airport charge would be less than £80, it may be worth waiting??

the airport will charge you per kilo. approx £9 per kilo

you need to speak to your agent.

there has been lots of confusion recently with the flight only bookings.

as Delwyn says the 15kgs is only with a package. the agent, from the sounds of it has said no to the upgrade which in actual fact has given you no allowance at all.

the upgrade on the flight only prices is for 20kgs allowance.

  • I booked a package and have 20kgs as standard, not only 15kgs as mentioned above, i'm on a long haul holiday if that makes any difference. I would have had even more allowance if i'd upgraded to premium cabin.

Think you'll be on a style holiday which does automatically give you 20kgs luggage and free in flight meals.
  • Personally I would be more concerned with the space in the plane. After recently returning from Turkey with Thomas Cook I have to say providing you are no taller than 5'2 and weigh no more than 9 stone, there plenty room in your seat, leg room etc (providing you are not a long legged 5'2) I am 5'9 with long legs size around 11.7 stone and found it very cramped!!

  • As above, your travel agent has advised you the incorrect baggage allowance - i would try and get them to pay for it as you booked the flights based on the information they've given you which is wrong. The agent made the mistake at the time of booking, ask them to try and listen to the call as they will probably tell you that you didn't opt for baggage when you booked and that's why it says 0kg.
