Try http://www.whattowcar.com/ I doubt you'd be able to tow anything big. According to that page 80hp model no go, 101hp you'd be able to tow a small one.0

98 - 04 models, 800kg and under really. You could push it to 1000kg if you load very very carefully.
You will be working it very hard though, Lots of gear changes on the hills.
Newer models are a bit heavier making them more stable but also means increased stress on the small engine.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
In addition to the vehicle weight, if you passed your driving test after 1/1/1997, you'll need to take a Cat B+E driving test to tow a trailer more than 750kg.0

Wrong.
You can legally tow a trailer with a max gross weight upto the cars unladen weight on a standard category B licence. Providing the combination does not exceed 3.5 tons. And does not exceed the manufacturers towing limit.
So if a focus has a 1300kg towing limit but weighs 1200kg you can legally tow 1200kg. A trailer with a gross weight of 1201kg would be illegal though.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
