The forum people will need more information to help you.

    You say gone off?

    (1) Any power light? No power? If not, check the fuse. Plug into another power socket.
    (2) Does it boot up? If yes, maybe something to do with harddrive or windows.

As you can see, the above question is too generic and too broad.

Be more specific and I may be able to help you.

So you're a computer expert and know this for a fact or just relying on what you've googled previously. If it's the latter then I suggest you need to get an independent engineer's report to diagnose the fault properly.
  • No Im Not a computer expert but they are quite a few reports of this problem i dont need technichan report am going to phone hp 2moro i just wanted to know what the details are when paying with a credit card as i hear that you get 2 year guarentee paying on that

Your 'rights' are with the seller, not the manufacturer.
I think you will need an experts report.

The credit card company are jointly responsible... together with the seller.

    Never heard of that.
    What does your documentation say?
  • The two year thing is something I heard of before when I had a problem with my PC.

Not sure exactly what the deal is though as I couldn't be bothered chasing it up. I knew by PSU was kaput and it would be less hassle to just buy one.

Like I said you're not an expert and documentary evidence gleened from the interweb doesn't count as proof. As the previous poster mentioned you must deal with the retailer and to get any sort of remedy the onus is on you to prove the laptop has an inherent fault. This can only be done via an engineer's report.

So far as the credit card is concerned, as others have said you get the same rights against the credit card company as you do against the retailer (see the Financial Ombudsman Service's technical note).

However, you still need to show that there is an inherent fault. As a first step, you could contact the retailer - if it is a well known fault, the retailer might deal with it without problems.
  • You could of course get a full refuns from the seller and lose all your data.

Otherwise, I thinks lap top, vents blocked by carpet fluff and vacuum cleaner! Get on the techie bored and ask there.

No, better still give it back to some incomptetant shop assistant and lose all your data.
