That Slimline HP 7510 advertised on TV at PC world Any good?

url]http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/572879[/url]

anyone tell me if its any good at £599?

However is it a desktop at laptop prices with laptop or desktop performance? Just cant find any reviews on it.

I was looking for a laptop to save on space at home, so I doubt I need to take it outdoors but I like the look of the 19 inch widescreen. Will I be disappointed with the performance with the HP 7510? I know it will be hard to upgrade but then so are laptops. I am not looking to run 3D games or graphics. However it would be nice to watch BBC news videos without the stutter I get off my old laptop (4 years old now so is a low spec so anything is better).

However I suspect if I can find room for this then a full size one dont take up that much more space and would be cheaper or a better performer.

  • http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/568_995109.html about the same spec but fast clock speed(better processor) (not wireless but save £100 so you can buy one) and also cheaper if you're looking at desktops

That pc world machine is a strange one.
Its using laptop components in a desktop.
So its laptop prices/performance but you get a desktop at the end of it.

You can buy 19" widescreens for £130 on their own, you might get them cheaper else where, I just knew about this one.

The turion chip on the pcworld machine is about £100, the p4 on comet machine is about £50. While it has a faster clock speed the comet processor is inferior, but then again the system is £200 less. Clock speeds are not directly compareable these days.

I would avoid both for the money.
  • A relative of mine bought one of these 8 days ago...So far...an absoloute NIGHTMARE!...Couldn`t even complete the initial setup...Serious error messages, blue screen of death, crashing. He took it back after a couple of days, they tested it,found it to be faulty, and replaced it.Guess what...exactly the same thing is happening with the new one!!! He`s packing it up now as we speak to return it again...What do you think he should do? Is he entitled to a refund ?...should he go for a different make of P.C. ? He also took out the insurance for it, so we`re talking in the region of £800 here and have nothing really to show for it...Any advice please?
    TIA

Re the insurance. Does it have a period of cancellation with a full refund?
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Yes ask for a refund and don't take out the insurance especially at that price.
  • Hi...Thanks for the replies...I haven`t actually seen the insurance documents, so I`m not entirely sure what the refund policy is, but I seem to recall you have a period of time from date of purchase to cancel this if you wish.Hopefully, as it`s only been 8 days, it won`t be a problem....but am I right in thinking he WILL be entitled to a full refund then? I`d just like to let him know what his options are before he goes into battle as it were.:0)
    Thanks
  • This should help

It covers the goods themselves, so not sure about the insurance, hence why I said about the period of cancellation so that they can get their full money back on the insurance.
