Student/young driver insurance

I've passed my test and done my pass plus but most of the insurance companies I've got quotes from, both online and over the phone, are more than my car is worth! I'm struggling to find a cheap car insurance before I head off to university and really need some help!
Thank you
Thank you

Most insurance will be more than the car is worth, its not for your car, its for cars you might hit.0

Apart from get a bicycle.
Yes the Insurance will be really expensive, several thousand for even a small engined car.
If your parents will have access to the car, when you are back at home, it might be worth adding them as named drivers. Might reduce the premium.
Also phone around brokers who offer specific young drivers schemes e.g. Adrian Flux.
Don't touch companies like Ecarinsurance, as they offer a painfull service. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
Unfortunately there is no cheap insurance available for young drivers, particularly if they are male as statistically they have the most accidents.
Will you be living on campus at Uni as depending where you are going, many do not allow first years to have cars. There are also unlikely to be many students with cars so you may find that you are better off leaving your car at home this year and being like everyone else and using student transport (bikes, buses etc).
If you really have to take your car you need to search the threads for young driver insurance to give you some ideas. Your insurance is also likely to be more expensive if you are in a City, say Manchester, Liverpool etc. rather than in a country area. Other factors influencing cost will also be type of car, which is ?
Try and give a bit more info and people may be able to assist further.0
