Mini statement code query - deb.int/com

Hello all.
I have just looked at the mini statement for my girlfriends current account (alliance & leicester) and have seen two entries taking £5 each time showing as deb.int/com
There are no direct debits on the account and has been left with about £2 in it until last month as we are using it solely for child benefit payments.
Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Just so I know what it is, in case we can't get to the bank this week.
Thanks, Ian.

  • Debit interest or is it one of those accounts where you have to pay a fee for underfunding?
  • Thanks for the reply. No, it is just a standard no fee current account. At my suggestion, she changed to it from lloyds 6 or 7 months ago to grab the free £100 for switching. But she was refused the bonus as there were no debits on the account. But thats another story.
It has not appeared before and only getting quarterly statements it was news to us both.
The account has never been overdrawn and all I can think of is debit instruction but that makes no sense either.
We tried setting up online banking when she first got the account but it kept going wrong so gave up on it and she went with barclays where all my money is.

Has she signed up to donate to charity?

deb.int/com crops up here, about halfway down, second line in the yellow box:

At £5 it could well be the underfunding fee, since the change to Santander it has been applied in error to some accounts so it's probably worth checking it out. If the account is the premier current account (and that was the one with the £100 reward) then there is an underfunding fee of £5 if the account is not credited with £500 per month, from what I've read Santander over the last couple of months have been applying this much more frequently that A&L did.
  • No she hasn't signed up for a charity. only a gaye taken from her wages.
A ha, yes it is the premier current account so it must be the underfunding fee. I knew when her wages were paid in I wouldn't have to think aboiut it so must have forgotten there was a minimum pay in when changed account for her wages. Just means it will have to be cancelled or I've got to deposit 500 in it every month. Bit of a pain when we have just set up child and housing benefits to be paid into it.
    That's life though :(
  • and just to be clear for others, deb.int/com means debit interest /commission or something similar, in English that means bank charges.
  • ive looked at my statement and its took 3 payments of £25 on the same day what should i do thanks
